The Bacchetta Café Recumbent Bike
The Bacchetta Café was a new design for 2005, their first non-SWB and the
first Bacchetta to retail under $1000 ($995). It is one of the most novice
friendly high BB recumbents on the market. (See also the Cycle Genius STX
for a novice friendly compact high BB bike.) The Café’ is one of the best
hill climbers a novice will feel at home on too.
The Café’s frame is level at the seat attachment making it easier than
some bents for shorter riders to start and stop. (But maybe not as easy
for short riders as the Burley Django, Hep-Cat, Koosah and Jet Creek or a
small Tour Easy) Most novice riders find the Café’s medium wheelbase
pretty easy to get used to, unless they prefer low BB bikes. This bike
only comes in one size; I just barely fit it at 6’2” with a 44” X-Seam.
The $995 price is good, especially considering the fine Bacchetta seat.
The Café’ weighs 33.6 lbs on our digital scale, not bad for a sub $1000
recumbent.
Stop in and try one for yourself!
