BikeE Recalls

Sweet seat recall:

If you have a BikeE with a silver seat frame and the seat back is 27” tall it may be recalled. If the 4 black plastic seat sliders that hold the seat on the bike frame have silver metal rings around them your seat is not recalled or has been repaired. If the sliders do not have the silver metal rings your seat is recalled and the CPSC recommends you not ride the bike until you replace the 4 sliders. We have stronger replacement seat sliders. See our BikeE accessory page for more details.

The CPSC says:

Consumers should stop using these bicycles immediately. The firm, BikeE, is out of business and cannot be contacted. As the firm is no longer involved with this recall, consumers can take a recalled bicycle to the dealer from which purchased, but it is up to the dealer as to whether the repair can be performed, and whether there is a charge. Front suspension recall:

In August 2001, BikeE recalled 1,400 FX and RX bikes with defective front suspension forks. These forks can cause riders to lose control and fall. BikeE began selling these bikes through dealers in December 1999.  The link pins in the forks can fall out, causing the rider to lose control of the bicycle, fall, and possibly suffer serious injuries. BikeE Corp. has received two reports of pins falling out of forks, resulting in two minor injuries to riders.

E2 tandem recall:

BikeE Corp. voluntarily recalled 700 recumbent tandem bicycles. The steerer tube on the front forks can separate, causing the rider to lose control of the bicycle, fall, and possibly suffer serious injuries. BikeE dealers sold these bicycles beginning March 2000.
